PCV Minibus

Getting Your PCV license

If you want a PCV licence to drive a minibus, and you currently hold a valid full driving licence you will need to apply to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) for a provisional entitlement to drive a PCV.

The category D licence is for Bus and Coach drivers who will be operating with more than 16 passengers and with trailers up to 750kg.

The Category D1 license allows you to drive a minibus up to 16 seats, no longer than 8 metres in length

You will need to complete the application form D2 and the medical report form D4.

For your PCV medical to go smoothly please remember to bring your:

1. Glasses prescription if you wear glasses or contact lenses during driving, if available.
2. Please try and bring a copy of your medical records with you if you have access to them.
3. Current medications and doses: Your repeat prescription would be ideal. Or, bring all the physical boxes for the medications on the day.
4. A copy of the results of any medical investigations/tests you may have done.
5. A form of I.D (passport or driver’s license). For Wolverhampton taxi medical please also bring a bank statement or utility bill.
6. The D4 medical form. We normally have spare forms in the office in case you do not have it. Or, you can download one here.
